Roger Lee Wolford, 68, of Dryfork, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Davis Memorial Hospital. Born on October 22, 1955, in Alexandria, VA, he was the son of the late Dan and Sally (Lawrence) Wolford.
Roger worked for the City of Alexandria in the sanitation department until retirement. He was a member of the Dryfork Assembly of God Church. He loved spending time at the hunting camp, fishing with his grandsons, and plowing snow with his son. Roger enjoyed sitting around the campfire sharing his camp stories. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh with his one of a kind humor. If he picked on you, he loved you, just ask Faye. Roger and his granddaughters had a shared love of shopping and eating McDonald’s. He also loved having family and friends over for cookouts and would never let you leave his house hungry. He had a contagious laugh that will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Faye (Collins) Wolford, to whom he was married on July 12, 1975. Also surviving are four children, Melissa Ann Clark-McCarthy and husband Sean of Bailey, CO, Crystal Lee Calvert of Woodbridge, VA, Jennifer Lynn Wolford of Bunker Hill, WV, and Roger Lee Wolford Jr., and fiance Jennifer Kennard of Dryfork, WV; four grandchildren, Maddison Lee Calvert, Hunter Lee Wolford, Tyler Nathaniel Wolford, and Abigail Grace Wolford; along with his two beloved furbabies, his dog, Georgia, and his cat, Cali.
Roger’s request for cremation was honored. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
