LIONS WIN ROAD GAMES AT HAMPSHIRE AND WEBSTER COUNTY

ROMNEY – The Tucker County Boys’ team traveled to Hampshire on Tuesday February 6th.  The Mt. Lions scored 25 points in the first quarter and then pulled away for the road win 70-41

Tucker County exploded for 25 first quarter points on the road at Hampshire to lead 25-7 after one quarter.  The second quarter would also belong to the Mt. Lions as they outscored the Trojans 15-9 to make the halftime score 40-16 Tucker County.

The visiting Mt. Lions then scored 18 points in the third quarter, and they held Hampshire to 12 points to increase the Tucker County lead to 58-28 at the end of the third quarter.  Hampshire would win the fourth quarter by the score of 13-12, but the Mt. Lions would win the game by the final score of 70-41.

Tucker County was led in scoring by Trevan Bonner with 23 points and Ethan Rosenau added 19 points for the Mt. Lions in the win.  Ashton Lycliter had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and Maddox Anderson dished out a team high 6 assists for Tucker County.  The Mt. Lions JV team also won 58-33.

 

UPPER GLADE – The Mt. Lions traveled to Webster County on Friday February 9th.  Tucker County dominated the fourth quarter to get a big road victory by the score of 53-38.

Webster County came out strong in the first quarter as they led after one quarter 15-10.  The Mt. Lions responded in the second quarter as Tucker County outscored the Highlanders 16-10 in the second to give the visiting Mt. Lions the lead at halftime 26-25.

The third quarter was even as both teams scored 10 points each to keep the Tucker County advantage at 1 point by the score of 36-35 Mt. Lions.  The Tucker County defense then stepped up in the final quarter as they held Webster County to 3 points and the Mt. Lions scored 17 points to pull away for the 53-38 road win.

Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County with 24 points as he connected on 7 three-point baskets.  Owen Knotts added 8 points and Garrett Wilfong chipped in with 7 points for the Mt. Lions in the win.  The Tucker County JV team also won 67-38.

 

#1 Tucker County(14-3) will return to action on Friday February 16th at home against Moorefield, JV game will start at 5:45pm.  The Mt. Lions will then host #2 Tug Valley on Saturday February 17th with JV action starting at 4pm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
