County Democratic Executive Committee Chair McClintock announced today that the Tucker County Democratic Convention will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Rudolph’s, 300 Highway 32 (Front Street) Thomas, WV 26292.
This County Convention is open to all resident registered Democrats in Tucker County as well as those that would like to become Democrats. Voter registration forms will be available at the convention for those that wish to register as Democrats. Light refreshments will be provided.
To open the County Convention, an official Convention Chair and Secretary will be elected. Attendees will then caucus by Magisterial District and elect seven Delegates to represent the County at the Democratic State Convention, which is to be held in Charleston on June 14 & 15.
“We encourage all registered Democrats, who reside in Tucker County, to become involved in the democratic process and attend this event,” County Chair McClintock said. “A county convention is a foundational element of democratic dialogue. Those elected as delegates will go to the State Convention in Charleston in June with an opportunity to serve on important decision making committees, and will vote for the people who will represent our state at the August 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Delegates will also approve the Party Platform and elect five Presidential Electors.”
Delegates to the Democratic National Convention are selected during the State Convention. West Virginia has been allocated 25 delegates and 2 alternates to the Democratic National Convention.
County Conventions are mandated by State statute. A county must hold conventions every year that there is a Presidential election.
