This is a photo card produced by F. S. Johnston of the Pulp Mill in Davis. This plant is part of what was known as The West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company which opened in 1895 by six Luke Brothers. At the height of operation in 1912 there were 400 men employed. The plant closed in 1919 during a time of strikes and labor difficulties. The last of the concrete buildings were taken down in the 1960’s. Ideas, comments, items to share or suggestions, contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
