MOOREFIELD – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Moorefield on Friday May 3rd for a Sectional Elimination game. The game went 3 innings and was stopped at the top of the 4th inning due to rain as Moorefield was leading 5-0.
The Lady Yellowjackets scored all their runs in the 2nd inning as they led the game 5-0 when it was suspended after a single by Katie Hicks at the top of the 4th inning.
The game was resumed on Monday May 6th at Moorefield. Tucker County was unable to produce runs in the top of the 4th inning and the Lady Yellowjackets added 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take an 8-0 lead after 4 innings. The Lady Mt. Lions could not score in the top of the 5th to extend the game as Moorefield won the contest by the final score of 8-0.
The Lady Mt. Lions had 2 hits in the game as Ava Shaffer and Katie Hicks had 1 hit each. Tucker County ended the season with a 9-17 record. Petersburg then defeated Moorefield to win the Sectional Championship. For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
