PETERSBURG – The Mt. Lions opened the Sectional Playoffs with a road game at Petersburg on Tuesday May 7th. Tucker County used a strong offensive performance to get the win over the Vikings 9-4.
The Mt. Lions got on the scoreboard first as they scored 3 runs to start the game to lead 3-0 after 1 inning. Petersburg would score 1 run in the 2nd inning to put the score to 3-1 Tucker County. The Mt. Lions then scored 1 run in the top of the 3rd, but the Vikings answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to make the score 4-3 Mt. Lions. Petersburg then tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Tucker County offense then exploded for 5 runs in the 6th inning to give the visiting Mt. Lions the 9-4 Sectional victory.
Nate Ricottilli led Tucker County with 3 hits(1 double) and 3 RBI’s in the game and Ethan Rosenau added 2 hits and 3 RBI’s for the Mt. Lions. Maddox Anderson chipped in with 2 hits, while Justin Robeson, Reid Kisamore and Blaike Adams had 1 hit each for Tucker County in the win. Nate Ricottilli got the start for the Mt. Lions on the mound, while Ethan Rosenau and Justin Robeson entered the game in relief.
BAKER – The Tucker County Baseball team traveled to East Hardy for a Sectional game on Wednesday May 8th. The Mt. Lions struggled to get the bats going as the Cougars got the win over Tucker County 14-0.
East Hardy broke the game open in the 2nd inning as the homestanding Cougars plated 12 runs in the inning to make the score 12-0 after 2 innings. East Hardy would add 1 run in the 3rd inning and 1 run in the 4th inning to give the Cougars the victory by the score of 14-0. Tucker County was held to no hits in the game and East Hardy produced 14 hits in the contest.
Ethan Rosenau got the start for Tucker County as pitcher. Xander Lambert, Maddox Anderson and Justin Robeson entered the game in relief on the mound for the Mt. Lions.
PARSONS – The Mt. Lions then hosted Paw Paw in a Sectional Elimination game on Thursday May 9th. Tucker County got out to a big lead and held off the Pirates comeback to collect the win 14-10.
In the 1st inning the Mt. Lions scored 3 runs to take the early lead 3-0. Tucker County then added 1 run in the 2nd inning and 4 runs in the 3rd inning to make the score 8-1 Mt. Lions after 3 innings. Paw Paw then fought back as they plated 3 runs in the 5th inning and 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning to tie the score at 8-8 midway through the 6th. Tucker County then responded in the bottom of the 6th inning as they scored 6 runs to give the Mt. Lions back the lead at 14-8. The Pirates would score 2 runs in the top of the 7th, but that was not enough to extend the game as Tucker County got the win by the score of 14-10.
Tucker County was led at the plate by Xander Lambert with 2 hits(1 double) and 4 RBI’s. Nate Ricottilli added 3 hits(1 double) and Ethan Rosenau also collected 3 hits on the night. Maddox Anderson chipped in with 2 hits, while Blaike Adams, Owen Bolyard and Reid Kisamore had 1 hit each for the Mt. Lions. Nate Ricottilli got the start on the mound for Tucker County as Xander Lambert and Maddox Anderson entered the game in relief.
PETERSBURG – Tucker County traveled to Petersburg for a Sectional Elimination game on Friday May 10th. The Mt. Lions led early, but the Vikings responded to take the victory by the score of 10-2.
Tucker County scored first as they led 1-0 after 1 inning of play. Petersburg then plated 4 runs in the 2nd inning and 5 runs in the 3rd inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead after 3 innings. The Vikings would add 1 run in the 6th inning and the Mt. Lions could not mount a comeback as Petersburg won the game 10-2.
Tucker County had just 3 hits in the game as Reid Kisamore, Justin Robeson and Xander Lambert collected 1 hit each. Justin Robeson got the start on the mound for the Mt. Lions as he struck out 4 batters and went 6 innings.
