2024 PHS Alumni Banquet

The 51st anniversary of the Parsons High School Alumni Banquet was held on May 25, 2024 at Tucker County Elementary Middle School. The program was opened by Marvin “Bud” Parsons, President, by welcoming those in attendance. He began by introducing the cooks, Nancy Dotson and her staff. “Chopper Evans gave the invocation followed by Ellen Shaffer leading in the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. A memorial service was held by “Chopper” Evans and Sylvia Rosenau. The Veterans were honored by Ellen playing music from each prospective branch of service as the Veterans stood in honor. 

Dinner was served by “Chopper’s” youth group,” Younglife”; also J.R. & Tammy Helmick and Cathy Hebb. Following dinner, a spokesperson from each class was asked to speak on their behalf. Two other classmates spoke on their class -Jim Strawderman, class of ’47 and Kenny Knotts, class of “48. From the class of “54 Alice Phillips; from the class of “64 Elaine Hamner Friend, and the class of ’74 Roxanne Tuesing.

The Hall of Fame awards were presented by Mike Rosenau and Bill Dilly as follows: Lela Bohon, class of ’66; Linda Plaugher, class of ’66; Dr. George Rhoades class of ’74; Bill Dilly, class of ’55; Mike Rosenau, class of 77; Posthumous; Atha Pifer Felton, class of ’16; Jim Stiles, class of ’49; and David J. Orr, class of ’62.

Parsons High School Scholarships awarded to: Addie Hicks, Braden Mullenax, Macy Helmick, & Tabitha Adams; Hendricks Ruritan Scholarships: Caitlyn & Ethan McCrum; Tucker Community Foundation scholarships: Laney Burns & Katie Hicks. 

 Door Prizes were given out by Bud & Jane Parsons, Sharon Daniels, & Carol Weinstein. Following dinner, the 50/50 drawing was held and Jason George was

the winner and he donated his winnings back to the PHS Alumni Assoc. Thanks Jason. Jeanie Ledden & Jeanette Bishoff took care of the 50/50 tickets. The results of the Silent Auction were given in the Gym by Jean Morrison and Sharon Daniels. Several items for given for the auction. The benediction was given by “Chopper” Evans.
