Alva French Knotts

Alva French Knotts, age 89 years, a native of the Sugarlands Community, Tucker County, WV departed this life Tuesday afternoon, November 5, 2024, at Brookdale Deer Creek at Sarasota, FL with his loving family at his side.  He had been in declining health for the past year and critical for the past month.

He was born Sunday, June 23, 1935, at Hambleton, WV, a son of the late Claude Ray Knotts and Perchie Lea Mullenax Knotts.  On October 19, 1957, at Red House, MD he was married to the former Elda Mae McDaniel Knotts, who survives.  Also surviving are one son, Daniel Knotts of Sarasota, FL; one daughter, Julia Wood and husband Jeff of Sarasota, FL; one brother, Kenneth Knotts of Parsons; one sister, Sylvia Rosenau of Parsons; four grandchildren, Grace, Kyle, Jared, and Jesse; and one great-grandchild, Adalyn.

Preceding him in death are four brothers, Junior, David, Perry, and Harry Knotts; and one sister, Irene Duckworth. 

He was a graduate of Parsons High School and Coyne Electrical School of Chicago, IL.  He worked as a Manager of Manufacturing for Westinghouse Electrical Corporation and attended the Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Mr. Knotts was a faithful attendee and was very involved with his church family. He was a well-loved and well-respected baseball coach who positively impacted the lives of numerous youths. As his children were growing, his home was the neighborhood gathering spot for his children and their friends. He loved his family immensely.  

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Thursday.  Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  The Reverend James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Alva French Knotts.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com .
