The Tucker County Lady Mt. Lions basketball team made the trip to Mill Creek last Tuesday to take on the Bulldogs of Tygarts Valley for their season opener. Tucker got a double-digit first quarter from senior Raven Matthews with 10 points. Matthews went 6-6 from the free throw line in the quarter as well. Tucker would hold the lead at 14-7 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Lady Mt. Lions would get points from six different players and pushed their lead out to 35-20 at the half. Tucker would assert their dominance on defense in the second half, as the Lady Bulldogs failed to reach double digits in either of the final two quarters. The Lady Mt. Lions would get the win with a final score of 68-33 over the Bulldogs. Tucker was led on the night in scoring by Raven Matthews who notched a game high 24 points, Addi Moats pitched in 12 points and Mayah Gross was double figures with 10 points. Tucker’s next game will be on Wednesday, December 11th at Lincoln, JV tipoff is set for 5:45pm.
