The Blackwater Public Service District met Tuesday, March 18 at the Davis Town Hall to discuss plans for the District’s new sewage treatment facility.  Present were board members Judy Cronauer and Jody Flanagan.  Board Member Al Tomson was absent.  Cronauer acted as chair during the meeting.

Cronauer said that a date for the PSD’s planned public meeting has not yet been set.  According to Cronauer, plans for the meeting are still moving forward for sometime in the Spring.  “We’re still working on that,” Cronauer said.  “We haven’t set a public meeting yet.  Hopefully in the Spring sometime.”

According to Cronauer the PSD is working with their accountant to set rates for the new PSD so that they will have that information available for the public at the meeting.  Cronauer said the PSD realized that rates and the impact of them will be at the forefront of the public’s mind at the meeting. “We have to work with out accountant and kind of get a better handle on the rate structure,” Cronauer said.  “So we have that available at the public meeting.”

In an engineering update, Cronauer said engineers were waiting on an update from the manufacturer of two plants before they would have the costs for the PSD for a comparison.  Cronauer said they expected a report soon on the cost comparison for the project.  “They’re waiting for some information from the manufacturer to finish off the costs of two plants,” Cronauer said.

Cornauer said that engineers also did a site visit to a similar site in Vermont recently and asked them what their issues were in cold weather in order to get a better idea of what to expect from performance here.  “She got some informative information about that so that when she designs her system, although our system will be much larger than that one in Vermont, then they can address  those,” Cronauer said.

Construction of the Davis sewer improvement project is still scheduled for Spring, according to Cronauer.  Thomas is currently applying for funding for their sewer improvement project.  “We should hear an answer pretty soon,” Flanagan said.

The next meeting of the Blackwater PSD has been scheduled for April 15th at 10 a.m. at the Davis Town Hall.
