Barbara Jean Parsons, 79, of Thomas, passed away on April 1, 2025, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home. Born on April 13, 1945, in Pierce, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Calvin and Virgie May (Aronhalt) Shepard.

After graduating Thomas High School, Barbara married the love of her life and began the wonderful journey of motherhood. Time spent with her family and friends was certainly her favorite past time and they all enjoyed vacationing together in the Outer Banks, going on cruises, and camping on the Dry Fork River. She loved cooking, shopping, and caring for the hummingbirds in her backyard. She always thought of others and would lend a helping hand anytime she could.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul Parsons; her children, Tammy Lynn Parsons and husband Garnie Sharp of Laurel MD, and Paul Thomas Parsons and wife Melissa Chamberlain of Millington, MD; siblings, Betty “Patsy” Woods, Jerry Shepard, and Bernard Shepard; and her beloved dog, Jade.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thelma Sheeler, Harold “Sam” Shepard, Janet Jones, Glenn “Jake” Shepard, and Mable Macklem; brothers in law, Donald Woods, Robert Sheeler, and Doug Jones; sisters in law, Barbara Shepard, Carolyn Shepard, Ruth Shepard, and Mary Shepard.

Friends will be received on Friday, April 4th, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, – Davis Chapel, 567 Thomas Ave., Davis. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Caitlin Ware officiating. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.

The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes is honored to be serving the Parsons family.
