William Junior “Bill” Heckler, age 86 years, a resident of Hendricks, WV departed this life Thursday evening, May 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Friday, April 7, 1939, at Parsons, WV, a son of the late William Franklin “Weed” Heckler, Jr and Bessie Clara Luzier Heckler. On January 27, 1962, at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Shirley Ann Lycliter, who preceded him in death May 15, 2008.

Surviving are three sons, Dave Allen Heckler of Elkins, Brian Colby Heckler and wife Betty of Hambleton and Donald Eugene Heckler of Hendricks; two daughters, Janette Harris and husband Bill of Parsons and Barbara Ellen Nelson of Hendricks; one sister, Joyce Papodopulos and husband of Ohio; several grand and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death are one son, Scott William Heckler; two daughters, Peggy Sue Heckler and Janet Pennington; and four sisters, Geraldine Purnell, Betty Gibbs, Phyllis Jean Hebb and Margaret Landry; two brothers, Steve Heckler and Bud Heckler.

He attended the school at Porterwood and Parsons High School. Following high school, he joined the United States Airforce, stationed in California and served time in Japan. He worked for the former Woolen Mill, construction and was a pumper in the coal mines. He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed digging ramps and ginseng, was an excellent woodworker and building cabinets.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 11 AM until 1 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 PM. The Reverend Kevin Gainer will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV, where the Joint Base Andrews Honor Guard, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker Co. Veterans Assoc. will conduct full military honors. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for William Junior “Bill” Heckler.
