Learn about recent changes to West Virginia Medicaid Law and how to protect assets from high cost of nursing home care.

The look-back period on gifts is now five years. The transfer penalty for gifts now begins once you are in the nursing home and penniless. The state can take your life insurance policy to recover nursing home costs. If you, your spouse or your parent is already in a nursing home, it is not too late to save your assets. Learn about the legal loopholes that may allow them to keep up to 95% of assets and qualify for Medicaid paid nursing home care, within as little as 30 days.

Mark your calendar for Monday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Parsons Senior Center to hear Brent Van Deysen, an Elder Law Attorney, who has dedicated the last ten years of his law practice to helping seniors protect their property and their financial assets from high cost of nursing home care. His firm has acquired specialized knowledge of complex federal and state laws, rues and regulations regarding Medicare, Mediciad and Veteran’s Benefits. As an Elder Law Attorney, his goal is to help seniors plan in advance to protect property and lifesavings in case they or their spouse needs nursing home care, assisted living care and in-home care.
