Pamela Gail Vickers Fisher Lackland passed away peacefully at home on the morning of June 6, 2025, embraced by love and free from pain. She had recently celebrated her 83rd birthday with family and friends, a moment of joy amidst her courageous battle over the past two years. Until illness made itself known, she believed she was healthy. Ultimately, cancer took her from us, but not before she fought with the strength and determination that defined her life.

Pam was born on May 28, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, to Leonard Vickers and Virginia Steins. She was the eldest of nine children—Diane (Deceased), Allan, Robbie, Paul, Monica, Greg, David, and Carleton—and took on the role of a sort of second mother to her younger siblings.

During her early years, Pam’s father was assigned to the Pentagon, prompting the family’s move to Washington, D.C. She attended Marymount High School in Arlington, VA, and maintained strong ties with her classmates, staying connected through reunions and Zoom calls, even in recent months.

Pam’s life was a beautiful blend of dedication, resilience, and adventure. As a single mother, she devoted herself to raising her three sons—Kevin, Dennis (Deceased) and Brian. Later, she became known as Pam Fisher, the Meeting Planner, bringing her energy and expertise into a profession that perfectly matched her dynamic spirit.

In 1993, Pam and I met, and life took a new, exciting turn. I moved from Dallas to Washington, D.C. and in 1996 Pam and I were married on the slopes of Diamond Peak at Lake Tahoe and began a journey together—first in McLean, VA, then Reston, VA, and finally, in Canaan Valley, WV, where we settled in Timberline during the COVID era of 2020. During this time the Dallas Team joined with Lauri and Greg and families adding to the combined family which now boasts 8 grandchildren and 1.9 great grandchildren. (Maisy June is due any day).

To know Pam was to know energy, love, and an unwavering spirit. She never hesitated to voice her thoughts, and she lived each moment with passion and authenticity. She fought bravely until the very end, bossy and sassy as ever—so cute, so full of life.

She was incredibly fortunate to have her family and friends surrounding her, expressing their love and saying goodbye. But when the time came, she finally let go. We always believed that those who went before her—those who loved her deeply—were waiting for her. Yet, she had to take that final step herself. She drifted into sleep in the afternoon and, in the quiet hours of Friday morning, she crossed over.

Pam chose to be cremated, with arrangements handled by Lohr & Barb Funeral Home in Parsons and Elkins, WV. Instead of a traditional service, we will celebrate her life—gathering in Canaan Valley and Northern Virginia in late July or early August. Thanks to the support of a devoted “posse” of loved ones, plans are already underway and we will update everyone as details are finalized.

Later in August, we will release Pam’s ashes from Bear Rock at Dolly Sods, where she will join our son Dennis, my sister Pat, and so many others who have gone before her.

Pam was loved deeply—and she is missed immeasurably. But she has now found peace, welcomed by souls who cherished her, guiding her into the next chapter of existence.

I love her and miss her and am so glad she’s at peace.

Sad … but beautiful.

Respectfully submitted by Robert W. Lackland, her husband
