Town of Davis to Consider Annexation

Town of Davis Mayor Al Tomson has begun considering annexation of property along Route 48. The announcement was made to the Davis Town Council during the Council’s regular meeting July 9th.

“I’m going to start looking at some annexation and its not associated with the Power Plant, but its associated with the building that is going out Route 48 on the right hand side,” Tomson said.

Tomson said he was considering annexing property along 48 starting at the National Youth Science Academy and properties being developed by Western Pocahontas, among others. Tomson gives justification for the measure due to the Town providing utilities to the area.

“The rationale is because we already provide water to the science camp, Science Academy, and we are going to provide sewer to all of those people and water eventually,” Tomson said. “So if we provide services then it makes sense that they would be within the city limits of Davis.”

Tomson said that he has only begun to explore the process of annexation for the properties.

“I’m starting to look at that process,” Tomson said.
