Home of Amy and Marty Smith.

The Mountaineer Garden Club chose the homes of Amy and Marty Smith and Trenton Helmick, both located in the Pulp Mill bottom, along with Lohr and Barb Funeral Home for July’s Yard of the Month recipients. The Smith home on Mill Street has a garden oasis on the left side of the house hidden behind evergreen bushes as well as beautiful clematis plants that climb trellises on the front porch. The yard and porch boasts a wide variety of plants and flowers including catmint, lady’s mantle, butterfly weed, lavender, hydrangea, flox glove, hostas, ferns and cactus.

The Helmick home on Chris Drive has a patriot theme showcasing numerous antiques, red white and blue vintage decor and flowers galore including million bells, petunias, ivy, spiderwort, hostas, pansies and a crepe myrtle bush. The antiques are incorporated in the front yard garden and include a suitcase, watering, gas and milk cans, tables, bicycles and a wash tub.

Lohr and Barb’s Funeral Parlor in downtown Parsons also boasts a patriotic theme with vintage flags, red carnations, red roses and a red maple tree. Front and side entrances even have red cushioned white wicker furniture.

Be sure and check out these beautiful displays of color, flowers and decorations this month.
