The deadline to register a team for the 18 annual Run For It race is August 31. Run For It is a 2k walk and 5k race hosted by the Tucker Community Foundation. The race is open to organizations and non-profits within the Foundation’s ten-county service area, allowing them to participate for cash prizes with no strings attached. Currently, 44 teams are registered.
The race will start at 11:00 a.m. on September 27, 2025, in Davis, WV, in conjunction with the annual Leaf Peepers Festival. The 2k is an untimed walk, while the 5k is a timed run/walk open to both walkers and competitive runners.
The registration cost is $12, with half of the entry fee supporting a charity of the participant’s choice. In-person registration will be available at the Davis Fire Hall on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
“Run For It promotes healthy activities and supports local philanthropy. Thanks to the hard work of the Foundation’s staff, board, and volunteers, it has evolved into a strong funding initiative,” said Angie Pase, Development Director for the Tucker Community Foundation. “The program raises awareness and support for non-profits, civic organizations, and charities across the Tucker Community Foundation’s ten-county service area in West Virginia and Maryland.”
The program supports non-profit and charitable organizations in raising funds through entry fees, team sponsorships, and race-day awards. One hundred percent of team sponsor donations and race-day awards go towards the team’s chosen cause, while half of the entry fees are also donated. The program supports various causes, including the arts, animal welfare, athletes with disabilities, charities, community improvement projects, and more.
“More than 100 cash awards are available for teams that truly inspire awareness and support,” Pase shared. “We invite you, as passionate individuals from non-profit organizations, to come together, form teams, and seek out sponsors for your meaningful causes. If you need any help in setting up your team or have questions about registration or fundraising, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here for you and excited to support your journey!
Over the past 17 years, Run For It has had a positive impact on the local economy by attracting serious racers and families to the area, thereby supporting local businesses. In 2024, the event drew 1,405 walkers and runners, raising approximately $332,000. These funds helped 79 non-profit organizations and groups within our ten-county service area and beyond!
