
BRIDGEPORT, W.VA.—Podiatrist Mark Ankney, DPM, comes to WVU Medicine United Hospital Center, to join UHC Orthopaedics. He took an unusual route to his medical training. He began his education at Alderson Broaddus University, receiving two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Math. Next came a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Education, both from Fairmont State University.
During the years of his early education, Dr. Ankney owned Cheat Lake Pizza and Pasta and was an assistant golf professional at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa, both in Morgantown. He stayed active in golf, first as golf course operations manager for Green Hills Country Club, Millbrae, Calif., then head golf coach at Fairmont State University, followed by assistant PGA golf professional at Bonita Bay Club, Naples, Fla., ending with a stint as head PGA golf professional back at Lakeview.
He then returned to his education, receiving a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University of Podiatric Medicine, and continuing with the Catholic Health System, Sisters of Charity Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y., for his podiatry residency.
Away from the hospital, Dr. Ankney spends time with friends and family, and enjoys sports, especially golf, physical fitness, and outdoor activities.
