I want to say to everyone that I am sorry for this week’s article. I have been so busy this is going to be off the wall and not make much sense but I will give it a shot. I had a busy weekend last week because I went to a school reunion. It is weird because it was not even my class but my brother’s. This would be my 50th year reunion but my class has never had a reunion. took my brother to his reunion a few years back and they invited me to stay. Of course I knew all the people there because they were only two years behind me in school. Momma Said, “It is great to live in a small town.”

There was great food and the fellowship was a boon to my spirit. It is wonderful to get out and be around people sometimes. As I have said before this is not something I do often but these folks are so easy to be around that it was refreshing. We had good food and played some games outside. We really tried to find someone with a set of lawn darts but couldn’t round up a set. Remember the heavy metal darts that we played with in the 70’s. I could guarantee that everyone that played with these things didn’t at one time throw them at each other. Momma Said, “It was stupid but we did it anyway.”

I would like to find a set of them and play once more. We had so many fun toys to play with like jacks, pick-up-sticks, barrel full of monkeys, Lincoln logs, silly putty and play-dough. It was fun to take the silly putty and squish it down on the Sunday paper and make copies of the funnie’s. The toys were so simple but we made our own fun. If kids today don’t have some kind of electronic device in their hands they are not happy. If you would hand them a set of jacks they wouldn’t know what to do with them. I think that was my favorite game and I was really good at it.

These games made you use your brain, your hand and eye coordination and they kept us busy for hours. Mom had to keep us busy in the winter when we were not outside playing in the snow. Most of these games could be played outside as well and again kept us occupied for hours. Momma Said, “Keep those kids busy and out of trouble.”

I don’t have a recipe for you this week I just want to tell everyone to enjoy life, your family and the time you have here on this beautiful rock we call home. I love to hear from the people who read my article each week and I just want to say thank you for being loyal fans and I hope I can keep doing this little article for your enjoynment.
