The Tucker County High School golf team teed off their 2025 season in impressive fashion on Thursday afternoon, claiming a commanding victory in a tri-match against Clay-Battelle and Moorefield at Holly Meadows Golf Course.
The Mountain Lions posted a team score of 183 over the 9-hole home course, comfortably outpacing their competition. Clay-Battelle finished second with a 217, while Moorefield followed closely behind in third at 218.
Sophomore Carter Wilt made a solid debut in his first-ever high school match, finishing 15th individually and showing great promise for the season ahead. Meanwhile, four Tucker County golfers landed in the top five individually: Freshman Collin Pitzer, Juniors Dominick Delsignore, Drew Simmons, and Nate Davis all turned in strong performances.
Davis led the pack and earned Low Medalist honors with a standout score of 38, setting the tone for what could be a breakout year for the junior.
The team now looks ahead to its next challenge, an 18-hole contest hosted by Tygarts Valley High School on Monday, August 11th, at The Raven Golf Course at Snowshoe.
With momentum on their side and depth across the lineup, the Mountain Lions are off to a roaring start this fall.
