PARSONS – The Tucker Community Foundation in conjunction with the Chris Phillips Foundation and Brad and Mary Phillips is proud to announce creation of a new fund called the Chris Phillips Foundation Fund. The fund is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Christopher Floyd Phillips by fostering his love for the outdoors through mountain biking, trail building, and youth engagement. Chris had a deep connection to Canaan Valley Area and the Mountain State that he proudly called home. Unfortunately, Chris passed away in early 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.

The mission of the Chris Phillips Foundation Fund is introducing and engaging youth inn the sport of mountain biking, offering opportunities for exploration, confidence building, and the connection with nature. The fund supports the development and maintenance of sustainable trail systems, conservation of West Virginia’s natural landscapes, and expanded access to outdoor recreation in Tucker County. Through programs and partnerships, the Chris Phillips Foundation and the Tucker Community Foundation continues Chris’s legacy of adventure, stewardship, and heartfelt service to others, empowering young people and outdoor communities alike to thrive on and off the trail.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Chris Phillips on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Davis Riverfront Park. There will be a memorial service, live music, and a mountain bike race. The Tucker Community Foundation will be there to accept donations for the fund. They will also be selling t-shirts at the event with the proceeds going to the fund as well. The events get underway at 10am and will last until 2pm.

“Anyone can donate to the Chris Phillips Foundation Fund. Do you have someone that you would like to honor and memorialize forever? If so, contact the Foundation Office by email at mike@TuckerFoundationWV.org or you can call (304) 478-2930″, said Michael Moore, Chief Financial Officer for the Foundation. If you would like to donate to the Chris Phillips Foundation Fund or any of TCF’s other funds, make checks payable to TCF and put the name of the fund in the memo line and mail to Tucker Community Foundation, P.O. Box 491, Parsons, WV 26287. To see a complete list of funds or to make an online donation go to www.TuckerFoundationWV.org.

The Tucker Community Foundation manages more than 160 endowed funds providing annual scholarships and grants to nonprofits and charitable causes throughout its nine-county service area. Inspired by the flood of 1985, the mission of the Foundation is “creating opportunities for the individuals and communities we serve”. For more information on how to set-up an endowed fund or to learn about the Tucker Community Foundation, check out our website or call 304-478-2930.
