Tucker Valley’s football team took valuable preseason steps as they traveled to Elkins for scrimmages against the Hornets and Preston County Squires. With starting quarterback Quinton Teter sidelined due to a broken arm sustained during late preseason camp, the Wildcats faced the challenge of finding their new signal-caller early.
Over the course of the evening, Tucker Valley rotated through three different quarterbacks in an effort to find the right fit under center.
The night began against Preston County, where eighth-grader Asher Kisamore made a statement on defense with multiple sacks and tackles for loss, disrupting the Squires’ offense repeatedly. Offensively, Tucker’s young offensive line dominated the trenches, enabling the team to move the ball effectively on the ground, showing great promise for the season ahead.
In the second matchup against Elkins, Titus Bowley stood out both rushing and passing. Bowley broke several powerful runs and threw the game’s only touchdown pass to receiver Legend Harper, showcasing his dual-threat potential as the Wildcats continue to adjust to life without Teter.
Tucker Valley will officially open their regular season at home next week on Thursday, September 4th, facing off against Braxton County. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
