On Saturday, Aug. 24 at 8 a.m., meet at the Refuge parking lot at the Camp 70 trailhead for Camp 70 Exploration, led by naturalist Jackie Burns. The Refuge was established to conserve wetlands and migratory birds. On this walk we will explore topics including invasives, succession, wetlands and the creation of the Refuge. Note: This walk will be a bit longer than many of our guided walks and over muddy ground. Because of the increase of invasives in the area we encourage participants to clean their boots of seeds before arriving. Bring a snack and something to drink.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, another in our What’s Blooming on the Refuge? series will be led by our Master Naturalist volunteers. What wildflowers are blooming in late summer? Find out how plants are dealing with early changes from summer to fall. Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center at 1 p.m., then carpool to a trail.
