The Tucker County Mt. Lions dropped their second regular-season game last Friday in Moorefield.
Moorefield opened the scoring with a 15-yard rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. Tucker answered early in the second quarter, as Sam Marks found Cade Rapp for a 14-yard catch and run to knot the score at 8-8.
The Yellowjackets responded with a one-yard touchdown dive to retake the lead, 16-8. Tucker’s standout receiver Reid Kisamore countered as Marks connected with him on a 52-yard strike to bring the score within two, at 16-14. Moorefield carried the momentum into halftime, punching in another touchdown from four yards out to extend the lead to 24-14 at the break.
The Yellowjackets received the second-half kickoff and added to their advantage with another short rushing touchdown, making it 32-14. Tucker wouldn’t go away quietly, as Marks once again found Kisamore, this time for a 30-yard score, closing the gap to 32-20.
However, Moorefield’s run game continued to dominate, adding yet another touchdown to stretch the lead to 40-20. The Mt. Lions answered again late, with Luke Barb finding Kisamore on a 25-yard pass to settle the final score at 40-28.
Sam Marks finished the night 14-of-29 passing for 254 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Luke Barb led Tucker in rushing with 6 carries for 56 yards. Reid Kisamore had a standout performance, hauling in 6 catches for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Tucker’s defense was led by Cade Rapp with 7 tackles, followed by freshman Branson Hyre, who added 6.
With the loss, Tucker falls to 4-2 on the season. Their next matchup will be on the road in Oakland, MD, as they travel to take on longtime rival, the Southern Garrett Rams. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on October 17th.
