October’s YOM selected by Mountaineer Garden Club were the beautiful yards of Business YOM, Five Rivers Public Library neatly surrounded by boxwoods and mums for the fall season.

Recent Resident Jay Boyle’s yard was selected for the changes that enhance the older home. Earlier plantings included Zinnia and Morning Glory and now include pumpkins, coleus and geraniums. Jay thinks he may join the MGC when his health improves.

The second residential home selected belongs to Barb and Bill Shahan on Chestnut Street. The home is imaginatively landscaped with driftwood and beautiful red knockout roses and a lovely yellow rosebush.

Congratulations to the winners. It is a joy to drive through our hometown and see the fall color of the trees reflected by the flowers around the homes.

The next meeting of the MGC is Nov. 3rd at 6PM at Five Rivers Public Library. New and previous members are welcome to attend.
