The Town of Davis has announced the 4th Annual Christmas in the Mountains festival for December 6th. The Town is currently in the midst of a town wide water and sewer project that has much of the town under some level of construction. Davis City Manager Joni Felton said despite the construction encompassing the Town, it has not dampened the Christmas spirit in Davis.

“We wanted to make Christmas in the Mountains fun this year because we have all the construction and stuff going on,” Felton said.

The schedule of events will be the Festival of Trees at Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Davis Holiday Market at the Davis Volunteer Fire Hall from noon to 5 p.m. and Visit with Santa at Town Hall from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“Becky Huber is making hand made cookies for the kids that come to see Santa,” Felton said. “And the decorations that we have on the tree are actually toys. So we are going to reach out after the holidays season and offer the toys to some of the daycares and kids in the area.”

The Festival will close with the Town Tree Lighting at Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.

“We do everything for free,” Felton said.

Felton said the Town will be providing hand made cookies and in years past there has been a craft table for children to enjoy. The craft show is only hand made items, Felton said.

Felton said that the Festival has garnered a lot of attention from vendors who did not meet the criteria for the craft show. So much attention, in fact, that the Town is considering a second location for a separate show for non craft items next year.

“We had so many vendors that wanted to get in that didn’t make their craft that wanted to get in that we might morf it a little bit more next year and add another location and do those people,” Felton said.

According to Felton, the entirety of the Town employees and staff are involved in planning and setting up for the festival. “It takes an army,” Felton said. “But its worth it.”
