Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School has welcomed a new, and highly seasoned, leader to its girls’ basketball program. The school has announced the hiring of a coach whose life and career have spanned multiple states, sports, and levels of competition.
Coach Rob Pase, born in Parsons, West Virginia, spent much of his childhood moving from place to place as part of a military family, eventually graduating from Radford High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. A three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball, he continued his athletic career into college, playing football while pursuing his education. He is a graduate of Potomac State College, West Virginia University, and Old Dominion University.
His professional journey in education began in 2002 at Tabb High School in York County, Virginia, where he taught Special Education for more than two decades until 2023. During that time, he became a fixture in the school’s athletic programs, coaching girls’ basketball and softball at Tabb High and middle school football at nearby Tabb Middle School. He later continued his middle-school coaching career at Grafton Middle School, also in York County, leading both girls’ basketball and softball teams.
Beyond school athletics, he dedicated years to youth sports development. From 2001 to 2018, he volunteered as a basketball coach in church leagues and county recreation programs. He also coached AAU girls’ basketball teams at the 10u through 14u levels, helping young athletes build foundational skills and confidence on the court.
In 2023, he returned to his home state, joining Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School. Over the past year, he has stayed active in the community by volunteering with the Tucker County High School girls’ basketball team and assisting with Parsons Little League.
Now stepping into the role of head coach for the Tucker Valley Middle School girls’ basketball team, he brings with him not just a wealth of coaching experience, but a passion for teaching, mentorship, and building strong, confident young athletes. The school and community look forward to the positive impact he is poised to make both on and off the court. Welcome Coach Pase!
