Joseph Earl King, age 78 years, a resident of the Moore Community, Montrose, WV, and more recently a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington, WV, departed this life, Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV.

He was born Sunday, June 7, 1936 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Harry Clyde and Amy Elsie Nestor King. On August 28, 1969 at Newport News, VA, he was married to the former Ellowene Helen Sherman, who preceded her in death.

Also surviving are one daughter, Wanda Wills; one stepson, John Wingfield; one sister, Phyllis Nestor; and one granddaughter, Katie.

Preceding him in death are one stepdaughter, Gloria Roy; five brothers, Russ King, Harry King, Blain “CB” King, Edward Clyde King and John King; and two sisters, Francis Hockman and Ruth Barr.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1955. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a truck driver, worked for the H. Hazel Construction Co., Canaan Valley Ski Resort and Timberline. He was a former Home Health Worker for Senior Companion and a former animal control warden for Tucker County. He was an avid sports fan, watching football and the Olympics. He enjoyed yard work, his tractor and dogs and cats.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday. On Saturday morning, December 20, 2014 Mr. King was moved to the Parsons City Cemetery where Graveside Services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Eli D. Hostetler officiated and interment followed, where the W. V. National Guard Honor Guard Program, the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion, the Tygarts Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Tucker County Veterans Association will conduct full military honors. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Joseph Earl King. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
