Thomas, W.Va. — Mountaintop Health Center and Pharmacy, part of Preston-Taylor Community Health Centers (PTCHC), successfully hosted it’s first-ever blood drive on January 27, 2025, in partnership with the American Red Cross. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, more than 25 community members turned out to donate blood.
Brittany Carr, the event organizer and a pharmacy technician at Preston Taylor Pharmacy in Thomas, said she was encouraged by the strong community response.
“I was pleasantly surprised at the turnout,” Carr said. “We even had a few walk-ins for the event.”
Carr emphasized that hosting events like the blood drive aligns with PTCHC’s mission to serve local residents.
“As part of Preston-Taylor Community Health Centers, we are committed to providing accessible events such as this one to the folks in our community,” she said.
Donors expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back close to home. One donator said she felt compelled to participate.
“I wanted to do my part in this time of need,” she said, adding that the location was “convenient to be so close to home.”
Preston Taylor Community Health Centers/Mountaintop Health Center and Pharmacy would like to thank the Davis Volunteer Fire Department for allowing us to use their space for this event.
