The Lady Mt. Lions of TCHS had a big matchup to start a busy week of games last week. Tucker started off by hosting the defending state champs and current #1 team in Single A, the Gilmer County Lady Titans. Tucker dug themselves a hole early, trailing 12-4 at the end of the first, but Tucker would cut the lead to six at the break at 23-17. Tucker would turn the wick up in the second half, outscoring Gilmer 30-14, winning the third quarter 12-5 and the fourth 17-9. Along with a team foul shooting percentage of 80% for the night, Tucker secured the win 46-37.

After the big upset win, Tucker would find themselves dropping their next two games, the first one being on the road against AAA Hampshire County, 45-29.

Tucker then returned home for a senior night matchup with the AA Petersburg Lady Vikings, where Petersburg would take down Tucker, 49-41.

Tucker then rounded out the busy week with their regular season finale at home against East Hardy. Tucker was in the driver’s seat for the game’s entirety to close the regular season with a dominant win, 53-19.

Tucker is now set to begin regional play in an attempt to get back to Charleston for the State Tournament. Tucker is the #1 seed in Region 2 and is set to play the winner of Pendleton County and Paw Paw on Wednesday, March 4th, with a trip to Charleston on the line.
