Main Street’s Art Stroll: Calling for All Artists

Crocheted and knitted items are on display during a former Art Stroll. Artists of all mediums and formats and local businesses are encouraged to contact Tammy Stemple at 304-457-3700, Ext. 226 or via email hotpepperbabe@hotmail.com to express an interest in participating.

“Whether you’re a fiber, visual, musical, performing, or literary artist, we want you to be part of Philippi Main Street’s annual Art Stroll Friday, May 1, 2026 from 5-8 pm in downtown Philippi,” says a spokesperson for the Art Stroll Planning Committee.

Main Street’s Art Stroll has been a mainstay in downtown activities since the first stroll in 2011. Each year’s stroll draws hundreds of strollers to downtown Philippi. These strollers enjoy visual artists, musicians, writers, and sometimes dancers who exhibit or perform in many business locations from the Barbour County Historical Museum to Freedom Bank.

To fill the 20 plus exhibit sites with outstanding artists from the area, Main Street again calls out to local, area, regional, and state artists to join in the popular evening event. Anyone wanting to participate in Philippi’s annual Art Stroll should contact Philippi Main Street Director Tammy Stemple at 304-457-3700, Ext. 226 or via email hotpepperbabe@hotmail.com.

This year’s Art Stroll will feature fiber art – knitting, crocheting, tatting, quilting, sewing, weaving, and all other fiber arts. Additionally, county school students, both public and private are always part of the stroll. Local musicians are also high points of the popular evening event.

Besides looking for a variety of artists, the Art Stroll is also looking for locations to showcase the evening’s event. Any Main Street business or organization that wants to be an exhibit site, is asked to contact Stemple.

Main Street’s Art Stroll Committee will place artists into available locations based upon a first-come, first-serve arrangement. Because locations fill up quickly, interested parties are encouraged to contact Stemple as soon as possible.
