The start to the 2026 Mt. Lions softball season was plagued by a lack of hits and defensive errors on the road in Baker, as Tucker fell 13–0.
Tucker failed to collect a hit against the Cougars, finishing with 15 at-bats and managing only two base runners via a hit-by-pitch and a walk. Standout junior Peyton Hicks got the start in the circle. The right-hander allowed just seven hits while facing 25 batters over three innings and surrendered only two earned runs, but defensive errors piled up, allowing East Hardy to pull away.
The season is just underway for Tucker, and the team will look to find its footing moving forward with a slate of upcoming games. Tucker will host Moorefield on Tuesday, the 31st, and Tygarts Valley on Thursday, the 2nd, before wrapping up the week with a trip to Gilmer County on Friday, the 3rd.
