Kennith “Kenny” Gerald Bible, age 77, of Franklin, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at UVA in Charlottesville, VA. He was born on August 2, 1948, in Davis, WV, the son of Gerald Pharris and Myrtle (Mallow) Bible. On December 21, 1973, Kennith married Beverly Ann (Johnson) Bible, who survives in Franklin.
Kennith attended Mountaineer High School in Davis, WV. He quit high school to join the US Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. The toll that his service took on him was difficult, but he was honored to serve. After his return from service, he passed his GED and went on to build a successful residential contracting business, Bible Construction. He was proud of the beautiful home that he built for his wife and children. Building was his gift and passion and he cherished the human connections that ensued. He loved to get to know people.
He was a Christian by faith. He was a member of Mountain Top Hunting Club in Tucker County. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and shooting. He enjoyed watching WV football and basketball. He believed he indeed lived the “American Dream”; Working hard allowed him to provide above and beyond for his family. This gave him great Joy. He loved his family.
Kenny retired to his current home in Franklin with his wife, Bev in 2014. They had many wonderful years together enjoying their retirement “dream home”, feeding the chickens, gardening and playing with the grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Kennith leaves behind to cherish his memory: his only son, David Allen Johnson (Ellen) of Thomas, WV 2 daughters, Sheila Farmer (James) of Roanoke, VA; Kristin Mirenda (Daniel) of Roanoke, VA; a sister, Lila Bradle of Texas; 2 brothers, Dwight “Davie” Bible (Debbie) of Davis, WV, Melvin Bible of Pennsylvania; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Frankie; and 3 sisters, Shirley, Shelva, and Arlena.
In honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated. Kennith’s family will receive friends on Saturday, April 18, 2026, 1-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Military Honors conducted by the US Army. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Team Rubicon, a nonprofit organization that unites military veterans and skilled volunteers to provide disaster relief and humanitarian aid.
