Tucker Economic Development Fund Builds

Support from an anonymous donor is helping to grow the Tucker Economic & Community Development Fund (aka TED Fund) that benefits the charitable economic development of Tucker County. Grant awards will be recommended by a committee that includes representatives from Tucker Community Foundation, the Tucker County Planning Commission, Development Authority, and County Commission.

The fund was initiated in 2014 with a commitment from Tucker Community Foundation to match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000. The most recent donation has increased the fund’s total market value to $4,400. To reach the minimum fund requirement of $10,000, another $2,800 in donations and matching funds is required.

Grants from the fund may be used for community development activities (such as real estate acquisition, relocation, demolition, rehabilitation of housing and commercial buildings), construction of public facilities and improvements (such as water, sewer, and other utilities, street paving, and sidewalks), construction and maintenance of community centers, and the conversion of school buildings, public services, and economic development and job creation/retention activities. TED funds can also be used for preservation and restoration of historic properties in underserved neighborhoods.

Donations from businesses and the general public help to increase the impact of the fund. For more information on the TED Fund call 304-478-2930 or 304-259-5008.
