This is a photo of a tornado that hit Thomas June 23, 1944. This is the area of Thomas called “Tony Row”. Many homes were completely destroyed and some were severely damaged. There were three people killed and many injured. The good folks of Thomas who were not affected were the first to lend a hand and help out those who suffered damage in any way. In 1980, Thomas was hit with a F3 tornado which caused 15 injuries and no deaths. This is interesting in light of the fact that Thomas is designated as a very low risk area for tornados.
