The drought for Tucker County’s baseball team has come to an end with a shutout victory against the Harman Panthers, 15-0. Tucker’s defense and pitching gave up just one hit in the contest, while the Mt. Lions collected 14 of their own. Josh Moore and Owen Helmick were both a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, driving in a combined seven runs. Josh Crossland and Brock Hovatter also collected two hits each in the win. Owen Bolyard got the win for the Mt. Lions, allowing just one hit with six strikeouts.
Tucker would then stay home to take on the East Hardy Cougars, last year’s Single-A state champions. The Mt. Lions would struggle mightily at the plate in the matchup, putting bat to ball just two times, as Crossland hit a single and Helmick a double, with Crossland scoring Tucker’s lone run. East Hardy would take the win back to Baker by a final score of 17-1. Tucker will next travel to Gilmer County for a matchup against the Titans at 5:00 p.m.
