My name is Bruce Kolsun, and I am running for the West Virginia House of Delegates to represent the 85th District, which includes Tucker and Grant Counties.
I hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degree in Education, and I have dedicated 33 years of my life to serving as both a teacher and principal. It has been my life’s work to help students succeed and to support the educators who guide them. In recognition of that commitment, I was honored to be named West Virginia’s National Distinguished Principal.
My commitment to service extends beyond the classroom. I have proudly served the City of Parsons as a Councilman and City Recorder, and I currently serve as Mayor. These roles have given me valuable experience in leadership, budgeting, and working with others to solve real problems facing our community.
I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Americans for Prosperity, West Virginia for Life, and the West Virginia American Federation of Teachers–COPE.
I believe citizens should keep more of their hard-earned money, and parents should be empowered to ensure educational freedom for their children. At the same time, we must demand excellence in education. West Virginia ranks near the bottom nationally, and that is simply not acceptable. Our children deserve better, and we must work together to raise standards and outcomes.
Economic development is critical to our future. We must focus on job creation to strengthen our local economy and protect our way of life. Strong communities are built on opportunity, and we need to ensure those opportunities exist here at home.
Infrastructure is another key priority. We must maintain and improve our roads, water systems, and communication networks, while also working to make energy more affordable for our families and businesses.
Access to quality health care is essential. We must also continue the fight against opioids, which are devastating families and taking far too many lives in our communities.
Finally, I believe in fiscal responsibility. We must be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and government must live within its means—just like our families do.
I am an honest person. I keep my promises, and I do not make promises I cannot keep. I am a common-sense leader who will listen, work with others, and bring people together. Real progress takes effort, but together we can move our communities forward.
If you agree with me on these issues, I respectfully ask for your vote.
Thank you.
