Tucker United and their supporters met Sunday for a Community Solidarity Picnic at Canaan Valley State Park
Pavilion. The pot luck event included BBQ chicken, a video presentation, games and activities and a drum circle,
as well as a protest along the main road of the park.

Members of Tucker United and their supporters met at the main pavilion at Canaan Valley State Park Sunday for a picnic and protest as a response to the West Virginia Legislature’s three day Interim Committee visit to Canaan Valley State Park Resort. During the Committee sessions on Monday, Tucker United encouraged their supporters to wear yellow tee-shirts that were distributed at the event on Sunday as a show of solidarity. The group was visited throughout the day on Sunday by members of other anti-data center organizations from across the State and Washington D.C.

The event included a protest along the main road of the park, a pot luck chicken BBQ, a 20 minute video presentation, sign making, origami, games and ended with a drum circle by the Tucker United Drum Circle.

Sunday’s agenda for the Committee included off site visits to Dolly Sods, Big Timber and the National Youth Science Academy. Monday’s schedule included meetings of the Joint Standing Committee on Finance, the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary, Joint Standing Committee on Education, Joint Standing Committee on Government Organization, Joint Standing Committee on Economic Development, Joint Standing Committee on Health and a site visit to Valley View. Tuesday the Committee schedule concluded with off site visits to Mt. Storm, Bowden State Fish Hatchery and the Tygart Hotel/Augusta Heritage Center/Railyard Event & Conference Center in Elkins.

Members of Tucker United and their supporters protested along the main road in Canaan Valley State Park. Protesters lined both sides of the road in anticipation of the arrival of busses carrying members of the West Virginia Legislature who were in the park for the Interim Committee Schedule over Sunday and Monday.
Tucker United were joined throughout the day by members of other organizations, including those from across the State who are fighting data centers of their own. Some supporters came from as far as Washington D.C.
