Woodlands Development and Lending Launches Tech Toolshed to Help Businesses Improve Their Marketability

ELKINS, W. Va. – Woodlands Development & Lending presents “Tech Toolshed,” a cost-free program that allows small businesses and non-profits to borrow high-quality tech tools and equipment to further their business goals and mission.

This program was created to help businesses and organizations present their services professionally, as most rely on social media and marketing materials to increase sales.

The current inventory includes professional photography, video and audio recording equipment kits that contain everything needed to create a mobile photography or recording studio. The Audio Kit consists of a microphone and headphones system to record podcasts, two-person interviews, or voiceovers. The Camera Kit is customized for beginners and can be adapted for professional photography and videography. It includes a full-frame mirrorless camera equipped with additional microphones and accessories for photography and video production, content creation, and hybrid shooting.

Both kits were curated by Curren Sheldon, an award-winning filmmaker based in Elkins. Sheldon also provides detailed video instructions on how to set-up and use the kits.

The Lighting Kit provides a simple, beginner-friendly lighting set up for product shots, head shots, portraits, and more. It includes soft boxes that diffuse light, two light stands, and two professional light bulbs.

This kit was curated by photographer Michelle Waters, a photographer and teacher in Parkersburg, WV.

We thank the photography professionals for their insight and assistance in this program.

Funding for the Tech Toolshed was provided through a joint initiative between Appalachian Community Capital and Goldman Sachs, helping CDFIs deploy capital to small businesses in the region. As part of this effort, Woodlands invested in the kits to help businesses increase their visibility and strengthen their brand.

The Tech Toolshed kits are available to pick up at the following locations and must be returned at the same place. Some locations may allow for on-site use. Late fees may apply.
