The Tucker County Mountain Lions volleyball team faced a challenging stretch this past week, traveling to Moorefield and Morgantown for matchups against Moorefield and Trinity Christian.
The junior varsity squad opened the week at Moorefield, facing a tough opponent and finishing the evening in two sets.
The varsity Mountain Lions battled Moorefield through four competitive sets. Tucker County fought hard to take the first set, winning a thrilling 27-25 decision. Moorefield answered with a close 25-21 victory before taking the final two sets, 25-14 and 25-12.
Despite the loss, the Mountain Lions showed plenty of competitiveness throughout the match and continued to battle against a strong Moorefield squad.
On Thursday, Tucker County traveled to Morgantown for a matchup with Trinity Christian. The Mountain Lions struggled to find their rhythm early and ultimately fell 25-17, 25-12 and 25-19.
With another busy week ahead, the Mountain Lions will have several opportunities to get back on the court and continue improving.
Tucker County will participate in a tri-match at Pocahontas on Monday before traveling to Pendleton on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions will return home Thursday to host rival Southern Maryland.
The week will conclude with a tournament in Elkins on Saturday, with play scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
