PHILIPPI –The Barbour County Community Health Fair will be held Saturday, April 25 at Broaddus Hospital from 7 to 11 a.m.

This event offers a host of free health screenings, discounted lab profiles and other tests, and health and wellness information.

“As a community hospital, it’s an important part of our mission to make health information and disease prevention accessible and affordable,” said Broaddus Hospital CEO Jeff Powelson. “We urge people to come take advantage of vital health tests and screenings which are free or greatly discounted.”

The Broaddus Hospital laboratory will be conducting blood tests from 7 until 10 a.m. The health fair panel includes complete blood count, lipid levels and comprehensive metabolic chemistry for only $30. Additional values which can be included are PSA (prostate specific antigen) for $20 and thyroid for $15. Overnight fasting is recommended, and blood test results are mailed directly to the patient.

The Radiology Department will offer aortic and carotid artery screenings for a cost of $30 each. Appointments for these tests are required and may be scheduled by calling 304.457.8162.

Additional screenings to be offered include blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, hearing, colon cancer, and others. Bone density heel scans for osteoporosis will also be provided at no charge.

Healthcare partners and community agencies will participate as well. Details will be forthcoming.

For more information, call Broaddus Hospital at 304.457.1760.
