SandraHartSANDRA SUE PHILLIPS HART, age 72 years, a resident of the Blackman Flats Community, Hambleton, WV departed this life Monday afternoon, March 23, 2015 at the Davis Medical Center surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Sunday January 10, 1943 at Norton, WV, a daughter of the late Edward Lee and Beulah Hester Helmick Phillips. On May 24, 1963 at Baltimore, MD, she was married to Roy Lee Hart, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Lee Hart and companion Burley Lee Carr, Jr., and Donna Sue Hart Cross and husband Kevin of Parsons, WV; two brothers, Keith Dale Phillips of Jane Lew, WV and Gary C. “Jerry” Phillips and wife Ruth of Jimtown, WV; four sisters, Edna Marie McCauley of Baltimore, MD, Katherine Irene Kidder of Parkersburg; Janice Claramae Boserman and husband Clarence “Jack” of Parsons and Mary Jean Herron of Oakland, MD; two granddaughters, Candy Jo Cross and Lacey Grace Cross, both of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are one brother, Walter Lee Phillips; one sister, Rachel Mae Kirk; four brother-in-laws; Leon McCauley, Jack Kidder, Eugene Herron and Glen Kirk; two sister-in-laws, Cora Phillips and Gaynell Phillips.

She attended the Norton Grade School, Coalton High School and she received her GED, June 13, 1996. She was an employee of the former Reidbord Sewing Factory at Elkins, Shepherds Pratt Hospital at Baltimore, MD, Kingsford Charcoal Company, the former Moose Lodge of Sunset Heights, Parsons, Shirley’s Restaurant and Jim Propst Grocery Store and she was a homemaker. She was a Baptist by faith. She was an avid reader and seamstress and was very artistic with her paintings, drawings, crafts, quilting and tremendously enjoyed her flowers. She was loved by many in the community.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1 PM. The Rev. Phil Dent officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for SANDRA SUE PHILLIPS HART.
