Tucker Community Foundation’s Run For It campaign kicked off April 1 with teams from around the region already in high gear.

At the close of the first day of registration, 12 teams were registered with many more expected before the July 1 deadline. The annual 2k walk/5k race raises funds and awareness for community causes in Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker counties, WV and Garrett County, MD.

Over the next six months teams will garner support by recruiting team members and team sponsors with the goal of leveraging large cash awards to donate to their cause. Unrestricted funds of Tucker Community Foundation combined with generous Race Sponsor support provides motivation for the young and old, and everyone in between, to participate in a healthy activity and community philanthropy. As race sponsors up the ante, more and more teams will enter the program. Last year more than 50 teams competed for $81,000 in race day awards.

To register a team or download an entry form, visit www.tuckerfoundation.net/run. Team Registration forms should be faxed to 304.259.5100 or mailed before July 1 to the TCF Development Office, 774 William Ave., Davis, WV 26260.

Visit www.raceroster.com/4874 to register online, purchase merchandise, donate to your favorite team(s), or to sign up to volunteer. Cotton and performance T-shirts and MUD Ceramics Mugs are only available online.

The 2k walk/5k race is held on the streets of Davis during Leaf Peepers Festival. This year’s race is scheduled for 11a Saturday, September 26. Onsite registration is available at the Davis Volunteer Fire Department Friday, Sept. 25, 5-7p and on race day morning 8 – 9:30a. Awards are announced following the race. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
