This is a photo of a 10 inch oil lamp marked Souvenir or Lead Mine. Leadmine gained fame when four men stopped to camp overnight before going on to Parsons. The men were: Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, John Burroughs, and Harvey Firestone. The name Leadmine came from an Indian Legend. According to the Legend, the Indians had a prisoner that they tied to a tree at the base of Horseshoe Run so they could travel on up the run and get some lead. There is no lead in Tucker County.
