John Wayne Phillips, 54, of Robbins NC passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.

John was born November 17, 1960 in Parsons WV, the son of the late Wilson (Chub) and Vallie Crossland Wolford Phillips.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Luck Phillips of Robbins NC, two sons, Jason Phillips of Seagrove, NC and Glenn Davidson and wife, Crystal, and one very cherished granddaughter, Caitlin Davidson, of Farmer NC. Also surviving are two brothers, David Wolford of Elkins, WV and Ed Wolford and wife Carol Ann of Parsons, WV, one sister, Roberta (Bobbi) O’Quinn of Elkins, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were three brothers Barton, Coy and Dennis Wolford and one sister, Doris Wolford Miller.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1979. He was proud of his home state of West Virginia and was a member of the Tree Growers’ Association. He grew, nourished and cared for Christmas trees on what he referred to as his hobby farm. He was a hard worker and a highly skilled carpenter specializing in trim work, wood crafts and outdoor furniture. He also cleared fence lines for area farms. He drove tractor trailer trucks and was a mentor for Narcotics Anonymous for several years.

Funeral services were conducted on May 13, 2015 at Smryna United Methodist Church followed by interment in Pine Rest Cemetery in Robbins NC. The Joyce-Brady Funeral Home of Bennett NC was in charge of arrangements for John Wayne Phillips.
