Iola Fay Miller Knotts, 73, a resident of the Horseshoe Run Community, Parsons, passed from this life Wednesday evening, September 4, 2013 at her home. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected due to heart failure.
Iola was born Sunday December 31, 1939 in Thomas, Okla., a daughter of the late Charles Abraham Miller and Opal Matilda May. On April 5, 1959, at Clinton, Okla., she married William A. Knotts who survives. They were re-wed at their residence on Horseshoe Run on August 30, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Craig Knotts and wife, Mary of Hedgesville and Warren Knotts and wife, Barbara of Horseshoe Run, a daughter, Louise Fegel and husband, Justin of Owasso, Okla., two sisters, June Marie Shepard of Clinton, Okla. and Charlene Thornborough of Mountain View, Okla., five grandchildren, Melinda Winston, Kimberly Locke, Ciera Fegel, Cory Jo Fegel, and Caden Karl Fegel, two great grandchildren, Hunter Reed Winston and Levi Locke, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Iola in death was one granddaughter, Karli Justine Fegel, one brother, Lawrence Miller and two sisters, Margaret Stevens and her twin sister, Viola May Steigman.
Iola attended Mullberry Mennonite Grammar School and graduated with a perfect attendance from Thomas High School in Thomas, Okla.. From her humble beginnings on a wheat farm in southwestern Oklahoma which she was very proud of, it was there that she developed a strong work ethic. She had worked as a media and external hard drive manufacturer for 3M Corporation from which she retired. She was a lifelong seamstress, a graphic T-shirt designer, and had a love for dogs. She had attended the Parsons First Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation was held at the Summerfield Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted from the funeral home chapel on Monday, September 9, 2013 at  noon. The Reverend Larry Filler officiated and interment followed at the Bonnefield Cemetery on Horseshoe Run Road.
