Leeorr Marie Rosier Rosier, age 89 years, a former resident of Clover Run, where she along with her husband owned and operated the Rosier’s Polled Hereford Farm for many years, departed this life Thursday evening, June 11, 2015 at the Moran Manor Nursing Home of Westernport, MD. She had been in declining health.
She was born Friday, August 21, 1925 at Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Arlie Earl Rosier and Dove Virginia Fawley Rosier Dugger. On February 21, 1942 at Baltimore, MD, she was married to Stearl Rosier, Sr., who preceded her in death. They had celebrated sixty four years of marriage.
Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Ann Carr and husband Hoye of Parsons; two sons, Robert Lee “Bud” Rosier and wife Beverly of Clover Run, Rodney Dale “Sug” Rosier and wife Donna Kay of Pifer Mountain; daughter-in-law, Flora Jean Rosier Custer; three half sisters, Charlotte Mullenax and husband Clifford, and Nancy Carver and husband Paul, all of Elkins, Patricia Gainer and hus
band Joe of Cravensdale; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Preceding her in death are one son, Stearl “Sonny” Rosier, Jr.; one grandson, Rocky Allen Rosier; one granddaughter, Melissa Lynn Rosier; one half sister, Loretta Gibson; daughter-in-law, Marsha Lee Plum Rosier; and infant twins, Kaedyn Alan and Kristopher Alan Scott Rosier.
She attended the schools of Baltimore, MD. She was a homemaker and was a former employee of the City of Parsons. She attended the Parsons Church of God.
Leeorr was a strong woman before the term “strong woman” was popular. She is the last of the “Greatest Generation” in her family. She was a child living in Baltimore during the Great Depression where she knew what it was like to do without, to share the little that she had, and to find usefulness in all things. While her husband was away in World War II, she cared for their family. As a farmer, her hard work and knowledge of farming matched her husband’s. She could take the few ingredients that were on-hand to make lunch for her family on Sunday. Before her sight was taken by macular degeneration, she loved to embroidery and read the “gossip papers.” She was complicated and difficult, yet loving and nurturing.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. The Rev.
