Ralph Lee Watring, age 89 years, a resident of the Hogback Community, Leadmine, WV departed this life Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Genesis of New Martinsville, WV.
He was born Monday, December 21, 1925 at Morgantown, WV, a son of the late Artennis Woodford and Mary Jane Cunningham Watring. On December 25, 1954 at Red House, MD, he was married to Joann Lantz Watring, who preceded him in death February 19, 2015. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Sue Watring of Williamsport, MD; two sisters, Kathryn Knotts of Hogback, Jane Lipscomb of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Joshua Watring, Jenna Brobst, Jessica Harris and James Sisler; and five great grandchildren, Christian, Tristan, Wesley, Hunter and Tera.
Preceding him in death are one daughter, Reda Jane Sisler; two brothers, Paul and Jim Watring; and three sisters, Hope Cramer, Ruby Summerville and Mary “Tootie” Houser.
He attended the one room school at Hogback. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was a Mechanic working in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa; and he worked for Mach Truck in Hagerstown, MD for twenty one years, retiring in 1981. He then went to truck driving school and he was a truck driver for Hoffman Transport in PA. In his spare time he was an avid mechanic, working on his tractor, car, truck and lawnmowers and enjoyed playing his guitar. He will always be remembered by the many jokes he would tell, and enjoyed being around children.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Sunday from Noon until 1 p.m. On Sunday, November 29, 2015, Mr. Watring was moved to the Watring Cemetery at Hogback, Leadmine, where graveside services took place. The Rev. Robert Leard officiated and interment followed. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Ralph Lee Watring.
