The Parsons Senior Center will host a HELP YOURSELF Self-Management Course for people who live with chronic illness, or if you are affiliated with such a person. This is a fun and easy way to help you learn what you can do to feel better and deal with the frustrations and discomforts of living with chronic illness.

The course will be held on six Fridays, May 16-June 20 from 1-2:30 p.m. By attending the course, you will learn disease related problem solving, how to manage emotions, how to begin an exercise program, skills to manage symptoms (relaxation, distraction, self-talk, visualization), communication skills, how to improve your patient/physician partnership, use of community resources, what it means to eat well and how to manage medications.

If you think that you or someone you know may be interested in such a course, please call the senior center at 304-478-2423. We will continue to provide information as plans are completed. We invite you to take advantage of this valuable resource.
