The Tucker County Senior Citizens held their monthly outpost at the Parsons Center on February 7, 2017.

Evelyn Moore welcomed everyone. Everyone recited the Lord’s Prayer, gave the Pledge of Allegiance and then sang “God Bless America.”

Linda Bonner read the minutes from the December Outpost which were approved as read.
Those having February birthdays were recognized. They were Barb McClung, Adelene Snyder, Debbie Simmons and Jean Morrison.

Adelene Snyder then read “Ground Hog Day”, Arlene Ramsey read “Forever Valentine”, and Bernice Hymes read “Old Fashioned Valentine”. Linda Bonner read some facts about Abraham Lincoln before Evelyn Moore read “T’was the Month After Christmas” which is a humorous poem about the usual weight gain over the holidays.

Linda Bonner then gave announcements about voting for the Valentine’s king and queen. She also reminded participants to sign up for the trips to Washington, PA for the Casino/shopping trip and for the Pirates baseball game.

The group was then entertained by Ellen Shaffer and Nancy Dotson who were accompanied on several songs by Shirley Cassidy on the dulcimer. The selections included: “Close to You”, “Love”, “Where the Soul of Man Never Dies”, and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” The group then joined in on “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Merry Lowe then sang “Oh Brother.”

Door prized were won by Lee Johnson, Robert Gould, Sharon Daniels, Randolph Lipscomb, Nettie Lipscomb, Lois Miller and Vonda Phillips.

A blessing on the food was given and everyone enjoyed a delicious meal.
